The News & Observer reports that Republican Jefferson Griffin, candidate for Wake County District Attorney, won this week's Republican Party straw poll by nearly doubling his next closet competitor's straw poll total:

In the race for District Attorney, Jefferson Griffin polled at 47 percent, followed by Jeff Cruden at 24 percent, Terry Swaim at 20 percent and John Walter Bryant, 10 percent.

The newspaper also reports that Judge Jennifer Knox, also a Republican, won her straw poll in her primary race for Clerk of Court with 55 percent of the vote.
