Counseling as Mitigation
If you've been accused of a Domestic Violence crime or other kinds of assault, it may be advisable to complete a treatment or counseling program as part of an agreement with the District Attorney.
These programs can include marriage counseling, or therapy with a private psychologist, therapist, or psychiatrist of your choosing. In other instances, the court may assign you a treatment provider.
Before enrolling in any program, call us to confirm that the program will meet the requirements of the court. Make sure that you save all documentation from the treatment program, and make sure that you fax us the documentation at our fax number at (919) 249-1396 or email us the PDF to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Common treatment programs include:
- DOSE (Domestic Offenders Sentenced to Education) at Triangle Family Services
- Parenting Classes at SAFEChild
- Alcohol and Drug Assessments at Southlight Judicial Services or First Step (Raleigh, Garner, Durham)
