In a gracious speech tonight, Jefferson Griffin thanked his supporters and conceded his loss in the Republican Primary. Griffin, a Nash County native who picked up 7,000 votes, lost to Jeff Cruden and John Bryant. As of 9:30 PM, Cruden and Bryant were headed toward a runoff.
Update: Attorneys throughout the day approached me horrified at my prediction that Boz would win. One attorney, a lifelong Democrat, recounted in vivid detail his advocacy for Jeff Cruden in the face of a potential Zellinger win. It was the first time that that attorney had ever taken up a Republican’s cause.
