Directions
Our offices are located on the 9th Floor of the Commerce Building (also known as the Odd Fellows Building) at 19 W. Hargett Street in downtown Raleigh.
The building is on the corner of Hargett Street and Salisbury Street. We are across from the Wachovia/Wells Fargo building. If you see the CVS building on the corner of Hargett and Fayetteville streets, walk west on Hargett about a half a block until you reach 19 W. Hargett.
After Hours
If you are visiting our offices after hours, on weekends, or on holidays, the front doors may be locked. Please bring your cell phone so that you can call one of our staff members at (919) 352-9411. They will let you into our building, and escort you through the secure elevators to our offices.
What to Bring
Bring any documents, including warrants or other documents you received from a court or a police officer. We will photocopy these documents for our files if you decide to hire us.
You should also bring a form of identification – a Driver’s License, Passport, or other government ID.
How to Dress
Dress as comfortably as you like for your consultation meeting. Our staff will dress casually when we’re not in court. So you can feel free to dress casually to our office.
When we’re in court, we strongly advise our clients to dress as they might to go to church. For the men, slacks and a button-down shirt and dress shoes. Clean-shaven or a trimmed beard. For the women, slacks and a blouse or an appropriate length dress or skirt. No excessive jewelry or make-up. Tattoos should be covered.
What Not to Bring
Please do not bring children to the meeting unless they are specifically involved in the case. If you can arrange for a babysitter or other child care, please do so.
You may wish to have a friend or family present at the meeting to help you make a decision. That’s fine. However, we may ask them to step out of the interview so that you and the attorney can have a confidential discussion. This is not meant to be rude or disrespectful. It’s necessary to protect your rights.
Free Consultation
We offer free consultations. In most cases, we conduct these free consultations over the phone. You may wish to meet us before making a final decision about whether to hire us to help with your case. You can schedule a meeting. Most meetings are held at our offices. (In some cases, we may be able to make home visits.)
At the meeting, you can feel free to ask us about our practice, or the general approach to your case. We may not have enough information to answer some of your questions. But we will do our best to prepare you for what to expect and to explain how we think we can defend you.
Payment
If you decide to hire us, we will ask you for some form of initial payment. The amount and type of payment plan depends on your financial situation and the type of case.
Please be prepared with a form of payment. Acceptable forms of payment include:
- All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover)
- Cash
- Check
- Certified payment options (Money Order, Cashier’s Check)
Our initial consultations are free. In many cases, people consult with us on the phone prior to visiting our office.
If you’ve talked with us on the phone about your case, you may come and meet us without any requirement to hire. However, you should bring a form of payment to that meeting so that if you do hire, you are prepared to pay at least an initial payment on our fee.
