Forensic Science is Sometimes Junk Science

Great article in Newsweek about the unreliability, corruption, and plain error in forensic “science.” Many jurors – including jurors deciding criminal case in Raleigh and Wake County – believe forensic science, and are unable to determine whether forensic science is junk science or not. There is no “may” about it. An Idaho man was convicted of rape and murder based on shoe prints; he spent 18 years on death row. A Louisiana man was convicted of rape when a bite-mark analyst testified that he “is the person who bit this lady.” Both were exonerated by DNA.
